Karen loves portraiture. To her, everything in life is just a balance of shadows upon color... and so whether she is painting a leaf or a face does not increase the difficult. They are all still just colors that she places upon her canvas.

She enjoys the freedom of portraiture also, in that she gets to see the people coming through in her work. It is not just another inanimate object which lays flat upon her canvas... but rather a person, who seems very much alive.
